From 18th November to 20th November, the Università degli Studi di Bergamo hosted the XIII Scientific Meeting #SISTUR that is the Italian Society of Tourism Sciences which connects scholars on Tourism Studies and encourages its developing and dissemination, both in Italy and internationally.
The conference was opened by three great key-note speakers: Dimitrios Buhalis (Bournemouth University) Marina Novelli (University of Brighton) and Greg Richards (University of Tilburg) who differently touched the most compelling themes of marketing through ICTs, the global environmental and pandemic crisis and the digital innovation in tourism.
In line with the conference topic “Tourism between green and digital innovation. Territorial culture and Commons”, case studies from Northern to Southern Italy, looking at internal and peripheral areas, showed how culture and tourism are deeply rooted into landscape and, more and more in Italy, into townscapes.
During the second plenary session, Giovanna Rech- on behalf of the Università degli Studi di Verona Team - was honoured to present the Italian #spoth2020 case study of Langhe Monferrato and Roero #visitlmr territory. The session was chaired by the Italian Ministry of Tourism Advisor, prof. Roberta Garibaldi, great expert of wine, food and tourism and recently named Managing Director of ENIT-Agenzia nazionale del turismo.
The session presented Landscapes and knowledge for food and wine tourism from a sustainable perspective: territories and stories rich in #culture and stimulant for #tourism futures! Once again, just a knowledge-based and well-informed perspective can lead cultural tourism to recovery and resilience through sustainability and place-based practices.
